What does it mean to follow Jesus?
Jesus wants to transform you from the inside out.
A disciple is a “follower of Jesus” who imitates Him in His way of living and loving God. Discipleship emphasises nurturing a close relationship with Jesus to become more like Him. The gospel is designed to transform us. It’s not about achieving perfection; it’s about pursuing a relationship with Him.
As followers of Jesus, we can face difficulties in knowing how to navigate a fast-paced world filled with self-help information. Amidst the roar of social media and now AI, we must remind ourselves that our faith calls for deeper engagement than surface-level solutions. Spiritual transformation comes not just from belief but from action—actively engaging with our faith. We need to learn to reconnect our spiritual lives with our daily experiences.
This happens through local church communities, where we can foster genuine connections and support as well as personal spiritual formation, by embracing spiritual practices—prayer, worship, service, and fellowship—we nourish ourselves in Jesus’ presence and learning His way of living and teachings. Practising these rhythms transforms us into His likeness.
When we invest in our spiritual lives, we can create profound differences for ourselves and those around us.
Can we live like Jesus today?
Yes, the answer is clear! It comes from being with Jesus, becoming like Him, and following His example. By practising our faith, connecting with others, and growing closer to the Holy Spirit, we can enjoy the full life Jesus promised. Through Him, we connect with God and access the spiritual world while living here on earth.
Hebrews 12:14 encourages us to pursue holiness, which means showing our loyalty and commitment to God by living differently for Him. It starts when we align our beliefs and lives with Jesus' teachings and way of life. This is key and needs to become our new way of life. As we are with Jesus, He changes us into who we should be, and we get to invite others to join us on this journey.
However, starting your spiritual journey can feel overwhelming without guidance.
This space is a useful resource for your journey to follow Jesus. It won't make you a disciple, but it can help you grow into one. We want to help believers grow spiritually by providing tools for training and practice, so when you're in a tough spot, you can respond like Jesus. These tools aim to inspire daily changes and lead you to God, who is the source of life. While spiritual transformation is a mystery only God can achieve, we can support it by keeping a routine of spiritual practices.
“Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
“Discipleship is the process of becoming who Jesus would be if he were you.”
